Chapter 11: Red-Braised Pork

As the various items flew into the refrigerator, Qi Xiaohan meowed.

One of the downsides of using this spell was that the enchanted items were unintelligent and could only perform basic tasks. For example, the slices of meat and meatballs were not able to neatly arrange themselves inside the refrigerator according to the kitty’s wishes.

The two roommates glanced at the stuffed freezer and then at the dejected kitty. Comforting her, they spoke:

“It’s okay, Xiaohan. You already impressed us. Even we are not able to do this.”

The lynx spoke, followed by the frantic nodding of the snow leopard.

However, the snow leopard stared at the suitcase. “Usually, we would just be able to simply carry it.”

The strength of the big cats were naturally incomparable to the small kitty.

The little kitty looked down at her own body: “…Miaowow.”

The spells that Qi Xiaohan had chanted were only able to move items that weighed less than herself.

She felt really bad.

Well, there was still another benefit of using spells: she could vaguely alter the future sometimes.

When Qi Xiaohan was little and Qi Ning was around the age of thirteen to fourteen, the latter hoped to purchase the album of her favorite artist. As for the small kitty, she wished for a laser pointer that could form the shapes of small animals. But, both the human and cat had no pocket money.

So, the little kitty secretly meowed a spell at Ning Ning to let her become rich by coincidence. This way, Ning Ning could buy her album and buy a laser pointer.

The spell soon came to fruition. Qi Ning bought a lottery ticket and won two hundred yuan. At that time, one album cost sixty yuan. After buying the album, Qi Ning was pestered and finally dragged by her cat to a small shop to buy the magical laser pointer.

Like this, the spell slightly altered the future course of events. Of course, the changes were mostly unimportant. To prevent serious harm or injury, the kitty didn’t use the spell very often. On a day-to-day basis, Qi Xiaohan used her spells to transport items and it was much more convenient than using the regular spiritual spells.

(T/N: The ‘spell’ that Qi Xiaohan uses is called “言灵” or spells that she chants out loud. There are other ‘spells’, but judging from reactions of people around her, her spells are not commonly used. I haven’t decided if I should use the term “spell” for others because I have not seen much elaboration or explanation on it by the author yet. For example, here, the ‘spiritual spells’ is actually spiritual techniques/method/??)

The three cats tidied up their dorm room. Qi Xiaohan pulled out her cat bed and arranged it on top of the bed. After staring at it with evident happiness, she hopped off the bed.

“My senior brother is still waiting for me downstiars. I need to hurry down, let’s eat hot pot together for dinner!”

The two big cats amicably nodded.

“In a bit, our seniors are also going to escort us there. Make sure you bring your room key; we won’t be able to let you in later.”

The kitty quickly ran out and meowed, the sound echoing throughout the corridor.

Qi Xiaohan bounded down the stairs. Looking in each direction, she didn’t see her senior brother. Just when she was about to call him on her phone, she saw a figure walking over holding a small cup of ice cream.

“Are you ready to go?”

Yan Chong asked with a smile.

The kitty meowed. Suddenly, Yan Chong knelt down and offered her the ice cream.

“Today’s weather is pretty hot. After you finish, we can go to the dining hall.”

Qi Xiaohan didn’t expect her senior brother to be this meticulous and happily meowed at him. Then, she lowered her head and lapped the ice cream.

Looking at the tiny kitty, Yan Chong sighed.

The kitty was burying her head inside the cup, making her appear even smaller.

He was afraid that she would have a hard time surviving military training.

Qi Xiaohan set the cup in a comfortable location and enchanted it so she could conveniently lap it up while walking.

She was oblivious to the thoughts of the demon in front of her and slowly licked the ice cream while gazing around her.

“Your dormitory building and the immediate area around it is part of the Cat Clan’s territory. The Cat Clan refers to an area of land that was arranged for students of the same species. It also prevents territorial disputes. There are other designated areas, such as the Wolf Clan, the Bird Clan, etc. Don’t wander around on other clans’ territories on a regular day. Some students are very territorial and it is easy for a fight to arise between them and people of a different species.”

Yan Chong pointed to the dorms as he talked to the kitty.

Recalling the incident where she hung from the black wolf’s mouth, Qi Xiaohan’s ears trembled.

“The educational buildings are quite far from here so you probably use the campus transportation service. Still, I recommend that you prepare to leave early.” Yan Chong gestured to the transport station in front of them: “Otherwise, it will be very crowded.”

Yan Chong’s eyes lingered on the small kitty again. Secretly, he thought: such a small cat could cram into a corner without being too uncomfortable.

Qi Xiaohan glanced at the station and noted it’s position.

“On campus, we are not allowed to fly at will. After you have mastered the skill of flight, you need to apply for a permit. Without one, you can get in serious trouble.”

The kitty nodded.

As Yan Chong led Qi Xiaohan to the dining hall, he would stop at important locations and point them out to her. Finally, they reached the dining hall. “We’re slightly late for lunch, but it’s fine. The dining hall closes at 12 A.M. and food is offered throughout the day. However, the taste is only so-so. If you don’t like it, there are always other restaurants scattered all over campus.”

At this point, Qi Xiaohan had finished her ice cream. Holding it in her mouth, she flung it inside a trash can before following Yan Chong into the dining hall.

There were still plenty of people inside the dining hall. The first-years and second-years who were unable to transform sat together with the third-years who could transform. The dining hall was divided into sections. Most of the first-years whose original form were on the larger side sat on the second floor.

(T/N: Transform = take a human appearance.)

Shocked by the wide and open seating area, Qi Xiaohan meowed.

“What do you want to eat?”

Yan Chong asked.

Without hesitation, Qi Xiaohan blurted: “Meat!”

Yan Chong laughed: “What kind of meat? How does ribs sound? I’ve always eaten ribs from this one place; it tastes delicious.” As he spoke, he led the kitty over to a specific window to order.

Qi Xiaohan followed him, dexterously weaving between people.

In the line, Qi Xiaohan pulled out her campus card from inside her backpack and held it in her mouth.

Yan Chong had gone to another area to buy drinks, leaving Qi Xiaohan by herself in the line.

When it was her turn to order, Qi Xiaohan set the card down and loudly meowed at the server: “Auntie, I’ll have braised pork ribs!”

Auntie: “That’ll be seven yuan.”

Soon, a plate of red braised pork was placed in front of the window and the Auntie began helping the next student in line.

The kitty tilted her head all the way up and stared at the distant plate of red braised pork. Then, she glanced at the card reader next to it and meowed.

Qi Xiaohan gripped her card in her mouth and retreated a few steps. Jumping up, she brushed the card against the reader and it successfully scanned.

Once she returned to the ground, she helplessly looked at the plate of food.

“Miaow—”

I really rushed through proofreading this chapter, sorry for any mistakes. Thanks for reading!

Chapter 10: Kitty’s Ability

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

Honestly, Yan Chong had not been doing well these past few years and was struggling with money.

He was so poor that when he attended university for the first time last year, his belongings amounted to a puny bundle wrapped in cloth.

After he entered the city, he was the frequent target of jokes because he was a demon who had come from the countryside.

Now, looking at all the luggage that a tiny kitty had brought, Yan Chong was hit hard. For him, a demon who had struggled through poverty, the mental blow stung.

It really hurt a lot.

Yan Chong scrunched up his face: “Let’s go, senior will help you.”

The white kitty meowed and cheerfully bounded over to the luggage cart. Exerting force, she pushed the cart forward to Yan Chong, who reached out his hand and took control of it.

The demon and the cat exited the unused conference room and saw a Siamese cat standing at the entrance to the office. Qi Xiaohan lifted her paw before hesitatingly lowering it again.

The Siamese cat tentatively poked her head inside the entrance to observe. The office was filled with people so she decided to wait outside.

All of a sudden, the Siamese cat turned around. It saw the pretty white kitty from the plane earlier and silently stared at her for a moment. Then, it pushed open the door and strode inside the office.

Yan Chong: “Let’s go?”

The white kitty nodded and padded alongside Yan Chong.

Yan Chong realized that the kitty was consciously trying to walk quickly and held back laughter. “Senior sister Lu Sha reminded me over WeChat that we need to hurry up because you have perishable food.”

Qi Xiaohan immediately nodded and looked up towards her senior brother: “My older sister told me that the school had a refrigerator so she packed a lot of food for me. A large portion of it needs to be frozen.”

It was very easy for the food to spoil, especially in this weather.

“I almost forgot. Senior brother, do you eat beef jerky? I brought a lot from home. When we get to the dorms, I’ll give you some.”

Yan Chong: “Of course!”

The cat and the demon chatted cheerfully the entire way.

“Wait, are you eating first or going back to the dorms? I think that you should go back to the dorms first so you can put all your luggage away. I can wait at the entrance for you. After you finish, we can go to the dining hall together. How does that sound?”

The white kitty promptly nodded.

Ning Ning was worried that Qi Xiaohan would not adapt to the school food easily, so she packed lots of food from home, filling a large suitcase. Much of the food was taken from the freezer and packed the day the kitty was leaving. If it was left in this scorching heat, it would definitely spoil.

Finally, they arrived at the dormitory. Yan Chong showed the lady on duty his identification before she let him inside.

During the period when students moved in at the start of school, there were special exceptions to the dorm rules, and senior brothers were allowed inside.

As Yan Chong pushed the luggage cart, he pressed the button for the elevator.

Qi Xiaohan entered her room and found that her roommates had already arrived.

A snow leopard was trying to make her bed and jumped every which way around it. She looked very busy. At the sound of the door opening, the snow leopard was startled and tumbled down onto the ground. Her beautiful eyes were opened wide as she stared at Qi Xiaohan and Yan Chong.

Qi Xiaohan: “…Hi, I’m Qi Xiaohan. I’m also living in this room.”

The snow leopard came to her senses and quickly got up. “My name is Zhou Mingming. I just helped clean the beds up. You can directly put on the duvet covers.”

She faced Yan Chong and spoke again: “Hello, senior brother.”

Yan Chong grinned at her while nodding. He glanced around their room: “Has everyone living here arrived?”

Zhou Mingming shook her head: “We’re still missing another cat.”

(T/N: The text says ‘金猫’ = golden cat. This is probably referring to the Asian golden cat, but I’m not sure.)

A head poked out of the bathroom door, sensing sound outside, before calling out: “Hello, senior brother Yan Chong!”

Yan Chong faced the direction of the lively lynx and politely nodded.

(T/N: ‘山猫’ = lynx or bobcat. Most likely lynx because from what I can tell from my limited reading, bobcats don’t live near Asia?)

Qi Xiaohan hopped onto her stack of suitcases and used her front two paws to try to push the top suitcase down.

Yan Chong noticed her struggle and helped remove all of Qi Xiaohan’s luggage from the cart.

The white kitty thanked him before opening the suitcase, which was filled to the brim with food.

Qi Xiaohan pawed through the items inside before grabbing at a bag of beef jerky. She lifted her fluffy paw and pushed the bag towards her senior brother, meowing.

“Miaowow.”

Yan Chong picked up the bag of beef jerky. She had not made an empty promise after all. He felt oddly moved.

“Thanks, junior sister Xiaohan.”

Little white kitty: “No need to thank me.”

“I’ll go down and wait for you there. Don’t go overboard with organizing everything, I still need to take you to eat lunch.” Saying this, the demon brought the bag of jerky with him and happily pushed the now empty luggage cart away.

Qi Xiaohan glanced at the two big cats inside her dorm and meowed.

The two big cats looked at the small kitty standing next to the luggage at the door, then looked at themselves, then looked at the kitty again. For some reason, they felt mismatched.

Their furry paws quivered, but did not move. The small kitty meowed again.

This little kitty looked both soft and small, as well as fluffy.

Qi Xiaohan tilted her head and shot a glance filled with doubt at her two roommates. Her tail nervously swayed around while she looked up towards them, meowing. The two big cats acted like a power switch had been suddenly flipped and threw themselves over to the small kitty. The three kitties rolled into a lump.

Struggling between the two big cats, the small kitty poked out her head with much effort. The snow leopard’s coat of fur was thick, and Qi Xiaohan was almost suffocating. She felt like the two big cats were licking her head and rubbing against her fur.

The little kitty raised her paw and swiped at them: “Miaowow, miaowow!”

The two big cats were heavy, and after they rubbed their scent all over the small kitty, they were satisfied and stood up. Suddenly, the little kitty jumped up. A furry little kitty lump rolled on the big cats.

Their new roommate was so cute and fluffy, and they were especially careful not to injure her. They let the little kitty roll all over them and leave her scent on them. Then, they saw her meow with a pleased expression and raise her chin.

The lynx leaned her head down and rubbed Qi Xiaohan: “Hello, I’m Lu Ling.”

The white kitty meowed and reached a paw up to pat the lynx’s head.

“My sister packed me lots of food and I need to store it in the refrigerator. Later, we can eat hot pot together.”

The kitty had remembered to store the perishable food and proudly patted the suitcase beside her.

“Wow! Your sister is thoughtful and packed so much stuff!” The two big cats circled around the pile of luggage, and spoke with a tone of envy.

One suitcase was still open from when Qi Xiaohan gave Yan Chong a bag of beef jerky. Qi Xiaohan hopped onto another suitcase and opened it. Then, she proceeded to open the rest of her bags.

Facing the suitcase filled with food, the white kitty realized that she needed to store it and looked everywhere around the dorm for the refrigerator.

When she realized what the kitty was looking for, the lynx pointed a paw in a direction:

“It’s over there.”

The kitty exerted a lot of effort to push the suitcase towards the refrigerator.

The refrigerator was located in a corner of the dormitory room. Although the room was designed for four people to live in, it was still quite spacious. It was an ensuite dorm, with a balcony and a washroom. Additionally, there was a washing machine inside the bathroom. For a dormitory, these conditions were great.

The two roommates went over to help the kitty struggling to push the packed suitcase.

“Door, open.”

The kitty meowed at the refrigerator and the door opened at her command.

The lynx looked at her roommate in shock: “Wow, I’ve never seen this before!”

The kitty bobbed her head up and down, her eyes gleaming. “I just used a magic spell. It’s not anything major.”

Both cats glanced at her with interest and Qi Xiaohan had no choice but to stop and explain: “Sometimes, it is helpful. Other times, it is quite useless.”

As she spoke, the kitty lifted a paw and pointed it at the refrigerator. Loudly, she meowed.

“Suitcase, float!”

The suitcase trembled on the floor for a moment, before settling on the ground again.

The cat awkwardly stepped with her paws and felt a bit sour. Suddenly, she yelled again: “Beef meatballs, beef meat slices, mutton meat slices, fish fillets, crab legs, float!”

The items inside the suitcase quivered before actually floating up. The items all flew in the direction of the refrigerator.

“Wow!”

Sitting beside the suitcase were two big cats, watching with surprise.

Cat in College School/Setting

This post will contain the different departments, majors, buildings, clans, etc. and it’s mostly for my own use to help with consistency of names. Hope this helps if you are confused 🙂 This is not a complete guide, I am updating as I go along. Feel free to comment on this post if you are confused about anything.

Simple version: university > houses > departments > specialties/majors

Clans: “Territories” of different animals/races. Not all clans live separate from each other or strictly inside the boundaries. However, some clans are rivals and enforce these boundaries so no trespassing (for example: Cat Clan and Wolf Clan).

  • Wolf Clan
  • Cat Clan
  • Demon Clan
  • Witch Clan
  • Human Clan

Xunhai Union University

Houses: Houses are linked to certain departments and students part of the houses usually spend most of their time in classes of that department but are not strictly limited to departments of their House.

  • Golden Spirit House
  • Fire Spirit House
  • Wood Spirit House
  • Water Spirit House
  • Earth Spirit House

Colleges: Colleges are very similar to houses. The ‘院’ character is used for ‘House’, ‘Clan’, and now ‘College’. I am trying to use different words to help readers differentiate them because they are used in different contexts.

  • College of Computer Science and Technology
  • College of Statistics
  • College of Accounting
  • College of Law

Departments + Majors: Usually affiliated with certain houses. However, students from other houses are able to attend classes. Majors or specialties are specific subjects that students learn. Also, the Sword Sect is basically a “Department of Swords”. This is not a full list, I will update as I release chapters.

  • Department of Mechanical Engineering
    • Puppet Automation
  • Department of Control
    • Spirit Control (Physical)
    • Psychic Spirit Control
  • Department of Spells
  • Department of Medicine/Dan
  • Sword Sect
  • Department of Offense

Chapter 9: Young Cats These Days

Lu Sha approached the group of human first-years with a large smile. When she witnessed the kitty rejecting their touch, Lu Sha froze before smiling again:

“Are you the Sword Sect first-years? Your seniors will be gone for a while and want you to stay here until they come back. This is Qi Xiaohan, a first-year studying Spirit Control. In the future, you might have the same classes, so you should introduce yourselves.”

The kitty tilted her head, thinking. Slowly, she raised a paw:

“Then, let’s shake paws?”

Sword Sect first-years: “…let’s shake.”

One of them reached out a hand and shook the kitty’s paw up and down.

At the office desk, Lu Sha separated the keys and campus cards. With a wave of her hand, several flashes of light materialized and the cards magically appeared in the hands of the first-years.

“Is anyone hungry? We have some food here. It’s almost noon already, so you can either help yourselves to some snacks here or wait for your seniors to come home and bring you out to the dining hall. They are currently helping out with the explosion disaster and might be late.”

Before, the Sword Sect first-years received a notice asking them to wait at the Cat Clan’s building and to behave politely. When they heard Lu Sha’s offer, they declined, “We don’t want to impose on senior sister. Don’t worry about us, there’s no need to give us food.”

Lu Sha: “Don’t be so stiff. Besides, all the snacks were bought after pooling everyone’s money together. You guys also have a portion.”

As she spoke, Lu Sha slid open a door beside the bookcase. The inside was completely filled with snacks, shocking all the first-years inside the room.

“If you want anything, help yourselves. The first-years who came to report before you also took some.”

Hesitantly, one of the humans reached inside and took out a bag of potato chips. The others followed in his lead, each taking a snack.

Before long, the little kitty was the only one who hadn’t taken a snack. Lu Sha lowered her head and smiled at her junior sister: “Xiaohan, do you want to come with me to the dining hall later?”

Facing such a small and fluffy kitty, Lu Sha had endless patience.

Lion cubs were certainly larger than this cute and adorable little kitty.

Qi Xiaohan shook her head: “I brought food with me. My human told me to hurry up and eat it. Otherwise, it might spoil. She also told me that the dorms would have a refrigerator, so I should also leave a portion of the food in there.”

Lu Sha couldn’t help but ask, “Your family’s human? You were a pet raised by humans before coming here?”

Naturally, Lu Sha would be curious because she had never been raised by humans. Most of her classmates were also never raised by humans, whether they were part of an influential family or a gifted, large cat that dominated most other felines. Extremely talented cats that were once raised by humans, like Qi Xiaohan, were rarely seen.

The white kitty nodded her head and meowed. Her tail swayed from side to side.

“What kind of food did you bring that requires you to refrigerate it?” asked a Sword Sect first-year.

The kitty hesitated before hopping off the chair and sprinting outside the room. She opened the luggage on the very top of the luggage cart and showed her classmates.

“My family packed me hotpot base, meatballs, veggies, and rolls of meat. I was planning to share the hotpot with my roommates for the first meal.”

Inside the office, several humans and one female lion stared at the fully packed suitcase, their eyes huge.

The little kitty continued to paw through the suitcase. She pulled out a bag of dried beef jerky with her teeth. Then, she dragged the bag and set it in front of the stunned onlookers before meowing:

“Beef jerky can be consumed immediately without preparation and is super, super delicious. Do you guys want some?”

Everyone: “ …”

A few moments later, all the people in the office sat in a circle and ate beef jerky. Lu Sha ran her fingers through the kitty’s fur: “Your family is really good to you. They even packed you lots of food.”

This little kitty had the most luggage out of all the first-years she had seen recently.

Most of the students intended to buy new items when they came over to live on campus. However, the less affluent students who could not afford to replace everything weren’t able to bring this much. Of course, there were some parents who didn’t even think this far at all. Families like this little kitty’s were hard to come by.

Lu Sha recalled an instance when she was mingling in ordinary human society. The young students who were first attending university dragged along many large and small bags, not unlike Qi Xiaohan.

As the kitty ate, a few crumbs were stuck to her fur and Lu Sha brushed them off.

It was Lu Sha’s turn to patrol the school grounds due to the disaster, but Lang Chen had not returned yet. She couldn’t just leave, especially because someone must be on duty at the office at all times. There were many first-years here, and it would be irresponsible of her to abandon them. Who knows where they would wander off to. If Lang Chen still did not return by lunch, she would have to bring the first-years to the dining hall.

But, if she then went to report to the Department of Medicine, she would be marked late.

Well, it wasn’t a big deal. Students from the Cat Clan were always late, so the people taking attendance would already be accustomed to their bad habits.

Anyways, she had enough attendance points.

After thinking it over, Lu Sha righteously sat back down, unmoving like a mountain.

Finally, the office door was pushed open and Lang Chen entered. When he saw the crowd of people inside, he was a bit surprised before walking over.

“You can go now, I’ll be on duty here.”

Lu Sha had been waiting for him for a while. As he spoke, she quickly stood up, straightening her clothes and fixing her hair before sprinting out the door.

Lang Chen watched the kitty gnaw on the beef jerky. She was crouching on the chair, chomping away at a piece that was larger than her head.

The beef jerky was handmade by Qi Ning. The bag used to store it was large, so she did not need to cut the jerky into smaller pieces.

Watching the little kitty trying to chew such a large piece of beef jerky made Lang Chen smile. The scene was just too adorable and funny.

The white kitty sensed Lang Chen staring at her and mumbled a meow at him:

“Senior brother, you want some?”

The kitty used her claw to drag the bag of beef jerky over.

Lang Chen did not reach for the bag. Instead, he pulled at the large piece hanging out of the kitty’s mouth and wiggled it from side to side.

The kitty was still fiercely biting the jerky, so when he pulled at it, she also wobbled from side to side.

Qi Xiaohan: ?

Lang Chen stabilized her by pressing down on her head and snatched away the large piece of beef jerky. Calmly, his fingers gracefully ripped the piece into smaller pieces before placing them all next to the white kitty’s paws.

Qi Xiaohan hesitated for a moment. She lowered her head and nibbled at one of the small pieces. Then, she looked back up at Lang Chen.

Lang Chen also took a piece and tried it. After, he took out a handkerchief from a bag and wiped his fingers.

“Thank you. The taste is pretty good.”

When he finished cleaning his fingers, Lang Chen sat in the same seat that Lu Sha was in and stared at the Sword Sect first-years.

The first-years sat upright. They had subconsciously placed the snacks down and snuck a glance at the upperclassman who had just entered.

He exuded a different vibe from senior sister Lu Sha. When this senior brother came inside, they sensed that he was not as easygoing. His face was serious and not a hair was out of place. Even that golden earring seemed to reflect a cold and unfeeling light. The table of first-years were scared to death.

On such a hot and humid day, not a button was unbuttoned on his uniform. Was this senior brother able to freeze himself? Did his cold aura actually cool him?

Pulling open a drawer, Lang Chen removed a chain of keys. He looked at the stiff first-years and coldly asked, “Why are you guys not eating anymore?”

“No, no, no, we’re not hungry.”

The first-years all replied in unison.

Lang Chen nodded and stopped talking, hinting that they should continue doing whatever they wanted.

He reached out his hand and patted the kitty’s head:

“Eat up. Ah Tan will come over shortly.”

Lang Chen glanced towards the Sword Sect first-years and slightly nodded: “Please wait for a moment, there is still a first-year from the Cat Clan who has not reported yet. When they come back, I will take you all to the dining hall. Later, other upperclassmen will come over and help you bring your luggage to the dorms.”

The first-years nodded immediately.

Before long, the second-years were relieved of their patrol duty. A horde of sword cultivator second-years cheerfully opened the door. They gazed through the room and were met with Lang Chen’s cold eyes.

Second-years: “…”

The second-years immediately stopped smiling and politely greeted, “Hello President. We are here to escort the Sword Sect first-years back.”

The first-years were not able to sit still any longer under the scrutiny of the scary senior brother. The atmosphere inside the room was serious, like they were attending an important meeting.

The group of first-years left with their upperclassmen, leaving the white kitty behind. Sitting on the chair, she meowed at them and waved her tail.

Suddenly, a black and white colored cat entered the office with Fire Spirit students of different species trailing behind her. The office was quickly filled again.

“President, the spirits have been taken care of and the roads on campus are now safe to travel on. The area near the destroyed floating tower still needs some time before it can be accessible. The estimated time it will open again is around 5 o’clock.”

The black and white cat meowed their report.

Lang Chen nodded and patted the black and white kitty’s head.

Standing behind the black and white cat was a demon who was staring at the little white kitty. After observing her for a while, he said:

“Are you junior sister Xiaohan? Your senior brother Cheng Lin is recovering in the infirmary. I was reassigned to look after you temporarily. I’ll bring you to your dorm later.”

The white kitty meowed. She jumped off the chair and threw away her trash before padding over to her demon senior brother.

The demon reached out his hand to scoop her up. He rubbed her head and bid Lang Chen goodbye. When he was just about to leave, he was abruptly stopped.

“Yan Chong, this little kitty’s luggage is inside the unused conference room. Remember to bring it with you.”

Yan Chong did not expect for the Vice President to remind him of a trivial thing and paused in surprise. He then grunted and walked out with the kitty in his arms.

When he opened the door to the unused room, Yan Chong saw two huge suitcases and a large bag stacked on top of a luggage cart, plus a cat bed hanging from the handle. His eyes grew wide and he glanced down at the little white cat.

The white kitty excitedly lifted a paw and pointed it at the luggage cart. She meowed towards her senior brother:

“Senior brother, this is my luggage.”

Senior brother Yan Chong: …

Young cats these days are excessive.

Extremely excessive!

Thanks for reading 🙂

Cat in College C8

Chapter 8: Don’t Touch Me

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

Previously, when she was scanning the first-years enrollment list, she had seen this kitty with pristine, snow-white fur. With one glance, she could tell that the kitty had been taken good care of. She was also studying in the Department of Control, specializing in Physical Spirit Control. The Department of Control had gained such a small kitty this year, so Lu Sha couldn’t help but look at her again.

As a female lion, Lu Sha was usually strict but still treated her junior brothers and sisters fairly, especially ones that had a young appearance.

However, she was clueless as to why the Department of Control even accepted a small kitten this year.

Maybe, this kitty had extraordinary innate talents.

She was also curious about the other first-year kitty, Ah Tan, who was studying Psychic Control.

“Let me help you. I’m Lu Sha, a third-year studying Physical Spirit Control. I was just chatting in the large group chat.”

When Qi Xiaohan heard her introduction, she nodded and cutely meowed.

Lu Sha helped the kitty take out her admissions letter and other certificates. After inspecting them, she removed Qi Xiaohan’s school card, the card to the entrance of the dorm building, and her dorm room key from a drawer. She realized that the kitty probably had not reached a certain level of cultivation yet and was unable to assume a human-like form, so Lu Sha carefully placed the items inside the duck bag while saying, “The bag is pretty cute.”

When Qi Xiaohan heard her comment, her ears pricked up, and she felt a bit embarrassed.

Before the start of school, Ning Ning had taken her to go shopping and insisted on buying Qi Xiaohan the bag. She had basically been forced to wear it.

Qi Xiaohan had no clue why this human was so childish.

“This is your campus card. Your dormitory building is number 20, and your room is 412. Today, at 4 P.M., there will be a class meeting that you are required to attend. Once you arrive at your dorm, use your time wisely to unpack. Tomorrow is a day of rest, and the day after is the start of military training,” Lu Sha meticulously recounted.

“Okay, thank you senior sister.”

When she saw the little kitty angle her face to attentively look up at her, Lu Sha’s heart was bursting with cuteness. This little junior sister was very gentle and obedient. Why she had been assigned to Spirit Control was a mystery.

The Department of Spirit Control was nicknamed the Department of Strength because both attack power and strength were vital.

Most of the students in this major were large cats. They were either calm and collected strategists or were strong and fought fearlessly.

As for the well-known Lang Chen, he was both of these.

Even though he was usually cold and detached and occasionally made terrible jokes, there was no doubt that once he was promoted to president, he would become powerful and domineering.

Lu Sha returned the dormitory card and the certificates to the small kitty when her phone suddenly vibrated. Lu Sha glanced over, and her brows furrowed. She placed the phone down and spoke to the kitty:

“I just received information that another first-year encountered an evil spirit and didn’t ask for help. They fought with the spirit and both were injured. Apparently, the ground is scorched black, although I have no clue what blew up. Fortunately, you met up with Lang Chen, otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened to you.”

As Qi Xiaohan listened, she nodded with a bit of fear.

“Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, the second-year student that was supposed to be assigned to you was Cheng Lin, a tabby cat from the Department of Medicine. At the time of the explosion, she was on the scene, and someone said she was sent flying when the building exploded. Right now, she’s recovering in the infirmary, which is why you were not found for a while. But, that is also our fault. The incident today affected many things. Before Cheng Lin recovers, we will assign someone else to you. If you have any issues, you can directly ask them for help.”

Little white kitty: “Okay.”

Due to evil spirits still at large around the campus, Qi Xiaohan was not allowed to roam around, especially as a first-year who had just arrived. All first-years were to stay at safe locations until the school was able to clean up the effects of the disaster.

All of the Cat Clan’s first-years had been accounted for by their senior brothers or sisters except for Ah Tan. Those who had not reported yet needed to make a trip to the office.

Qi Xiaohan stayed there, watching many first-years come in to report with a senior classmate following them, each one a large cat: a cheetah, a snow leopard, a lynx, a leopard, etc., none of them a small kitty like her.

A few moments later, several humans walked in. Seeing Lu Sha, they greeted her:

“Lu Sha, what time does your shift end?”

Lu Sha checked the time: “When Lang Chen comes back, he’ll be on duty instead of me.”

The leader of the group was surprised: “Wasn’t Lang Chen taking care of the monsters?”

Lu Sha: “Lang Chen was standing guard at the Shadow Forest earlier, but was wounded severely so Duo En went to replace him. Then, he went to look for a little kitty that we haven’t located yet. After he returns, he will be taking over office duty.”

“Then, we won’t wait for you. Remember to eat something, there might not be food at lunch.”

Thinking of something else, the student who was carrying a sword spoke again: “Wait, the Wu Clan mentioned that your Clan’s first-year had been bullied by the Wolf Clan. They didn’t say who it was, could it be that missing first-year?”

Qi Xiaohan overheard this and looked up at the human.

The human sensed someone staring at him. Turning around, he saw a snow-white kitty and was momentarily surprised before smiling:

“Lu Sha, is she your Clan’s first-year?”

The little lump was cute and fluffy. One glance would make anyone feel inexplicably happy.

Lu Sha rubbed the kitty’s head and introduced them: “These people are third-years from the Fire Spirit House’s Sword Sect. Currently, we are taking classes together so expect to see them frequently.”

The white kitty looked up at them and meowed, “Nice to meet you, upperclassmen.”

He smiled: “Hello, little junior sister.”

He reached out a hand to the kitty.

Qi Xiaohan paused before extending out her paw and placing it in his palm.

“Miaow.”

The other upperclassmen around them burst out laughing, then neared to pet the kitty.

Most of the cats of the Cat Clan, whether large or small, had odd attitudes. It was rare to see such a friendly kitty. At first, they were testing her for fun and didn’t expect for her to actually offer her paw.

She was both cute and odd.

Lu Sha snorted and a freezing blade of ice dropped from above and landed next to their feet. The sword cultivators hastily retreated.

“If you want to talk, speak clearly. Don’t you dare move! Keep on dirtying my junior sister’s fluffy fur if you dare to provoke me!”

(T/N: ‘动手动脚’ = Move your hands/feet. This is the name of the chapter and has several meanings. It can literally mean ‘move/touch me’, but another meaning is ‘fight/attack’. It is usually used to mean ‘fight’ so I think Lu Sha is playing around with the double meaning as a joke.)

The blade of ice rapidly melted and the sword cultivators glanced at the fierce lioness while touching their noses out of embarrassment. They laughed: “Fine then, stop making a fuss. We’ll be taking our leave. If you’re still working later, then please take care of our first-years.”

Lu Sha casually waved her hand at them to signify that she understood.

Only then did the several sword cultivators finally leave.

Lu Sha stared at the white kitty who was squatting on the chair. No matter how she looked at it, she felt that this junior sister of her’s was too easy to push around. Why did she let those humans pet her with no reason? When they realized she was easy to bully, they were going to frequently visit her in order to pet her. The Cat Clan students knew this from experience.

The human students were satisfactory in all other areas, but when it came to petting cats, they were always eager to do so, annoying the cats to no end.

Lu Sha sat down and spoke, “Xiaohan, your white fur is bound to get dirty easily. In the future, be a little more arrogant and don’t let anyone pet you as they wish, okay? Of course—” Lu Sha modified her previous statement: “The senior brothers and sisters of the Cat Clan can pet you.”

The little kitty obediently nodded.

Well, after being raised as a house pet, Qi Xiaohan was already used to letting humans pet her. As for the arrogant kitties here, most of them did not need to rely on humans to live, so they disliked their touch.

The kitty watched as her senior sister entered an adjacent office room. When she returned, she was holding a cardboard box and had set it down next to her desk. It was probably for students’ cards and other things.

A while later, a few sword cultivator first-years entered the room and saw a snow-white kitty staring at them.

The moment they saw the little kitty, their eyes lit up and were just about to reach out their hand to pet her, when the kitty lifted a paw up and earnestly resisted their touch.

“Don’t touch me, we are all classmates.”

(T/N: She says the same ‘don’t touch me’/’don’t fight me’ phrase from earlier.)

Sitting behind them, Lu Sha giggled.

Chapter 7: Female Lion

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

Shortly after, they arrived at the location of Qi Xiaohan’s abandoned luggage.

Lang Chen glanced at the luggage cart, then at the small kitty who was as large as his paw and fell silent.

He did not understand, the cat was so small, so how come she had this much luggage?

The kitty was crouching on the tiger’s back while kneading with her paws. Her eyes quivered as she looked at his bloody wound.

With one glance she could tell it hurt a lot.

She could almost feel the pain herself.

“Are you used to sitting up there already? Still not coming down?” The large tiger’s voice echoed next to her ear.

Qi Xiaohan meowed and used her hind legs to jump off.

Lang Chen felt the small kitty’s hind leg stepping on him, and annoyance flashed through his eyes. He had sensed the uncomfortably sticky blood that was stained on his fur, so he cast a cleaning spell to eliminate the dust and blood.

As for the grotesque wound on his back, there was no immediate cure.

Lang Chen motioned with his paw, wincing when it affected his wound.

Qi Xiaohan’s eyes widened in shock as the tiger transformed into a majestic and spotless tiger right in front of her.

As a member of the Felidae family, Lang Chen naturally was proud of his fur coat. Facing the bright and gleaming eyes of the small kitty, Lang Chen felt a rare surge of joy, which overwhelmed his previous feelings of irritation due to his injuries.

At this time, a flurry of notifications sounded, so the white kitty set down her bag onto the ground.

Qi Xiaohan used her claws to grip onto her phone and pulled it out. The messages in the group chat flew by.

—17-Stay Away From the Slag Lion 【Admin】: “How come no one has reported yet? Where are all the first-years?”

—17-Leopard Is Not Fierce: “Are there any snow leopard junior sisters? I saw a snow leopard first-year on the list, did she report yet?”

—18-Old Newbie: “She went to the dormitory and her roommate is a white kitty. The cat looks pretty cute from her picture on the official papers, but apparently she just got lost and requested help in the group chat.”

—18-Old Newbie: “@19-Spirit Control-Junior Sister Qi Xiaohan, Have you found the correct building? If you haven’t yet, report your current location so I can send a senior sister to come find you. Don’t wander around on your own, *laughing with tears*.”

(T/N: ‘笑哭’ = literally ‘laugh cry’, picture the emoji that’s laughing with tears coming out of its eyes. There are a few more emojis sprinkled throughout the messages and I will mark them with *asterisks*.)

—19-Spirit Control-Qi Xiaohan: “Kittyiscrying.jpg, something happened and I was found by a senior brother, but he is injured. We are currently headed towards the sign up area.”

—17-Leopard Is Not Fierce: “What happened? Who’s injured? What does the senior brother look like?”

—19-Spirit Control-Qi Xiaohan: “A large white tiger that is wearing a golden earring.”

—17-Stay Away From the Slag Lion 【Admin】: “ … President? @Lang Chen, Can you also bring back the other cat? It’s a Siamese cat majoring in Psychic Control of the Department of Control. Our House still hasn’t been able to reach her.”

—16-I am Xiao Er: “Don’t be like this, junior brother Lang Chen is already injured as is. *Laughing with tears*, don’t pressure your president so much. To the kitty that’s currently with Lang Chen: report your location and we will send over the medical team to help. Send a picture of his wound so we can see if it is urgent or not or if we need to prepare any special equipment.”

—19-Spirit Control-Qi Xiaohan: “I’m on it.”

Lang Chen watched as the kitty, who was sitting on her luggage, suddenly raise her head to look at him. Struggling, she bit down on her phone and faced the camera towards him. Then, she sent the picture to the group chat.

Lang Chen: ?

Fire Spirit House group chat 1:

—19-Spirit Control-Qi Xiaohan: “[Image]”

After the picture of a white tiger coldly glaring at the camera was sent, the chat fell silent for a moment before exploding again.

—18-Sweets Monster: “Ahhhhhh, President is so fierce, why is he scaring me over the Internet! I was frightened big time.”

—18-Old Newbie: “Even after being injured, senior brother Lang Chen is still so handsome and has a wild and fierce aura! But junior sister Xiaohan, why is your angle slightly higher than senior brother Lang Chen? What exactly are you standing on? ps: It looks like the injury is a laceration wound.”

—17-jiajia: “Turns out this situation was pretty dangerous, and Lang Chen was actually injured. I’ve always thought that he was made out of steel, *scared*.”

—18-I am a King: “Due to the explosion of the floating tower, more than half the total number of spirits and monsters escaped. Fortunately, Lang Chen was guarding the entrance to the Shadow Forest. I heard that our Vice President purged the entire Shadow Forest. The manner in which he heroically bore his injury is probably to soothe us Muggles (T/N: commoners), seems like we are not that disposable after all.”

—17-Stay Away From the Slag Lion 【Admin】: “Junior sister Xiaohan, wait there for us, I will send the medical team to find you two.”

—17-Number One Most Handsome Lion In This Universe: “Lu Sha, I am also injured. When are you coming to save me?” He sent a picture of his injured paw.

—17-Stay Away From the Slag Lion 【Admin】: “You can limp your way back, *smiling face*.”

—17-Lang Chen: “I think I lost too much blood. If it’s possible, I want to request an ambulance.”

—17-Number One Most Handsome Lion In This Universe: “Hahahahahahaha Lang Chen, you are a third-year already and you are living so delicately. It only hurts a little bit, and you already can’t walk, are you a little girl?”

—17-Lang Chen: “Request another ambulance while you’re at it. You can use it for when I beat him up later 🙂 ”

—17-Number One Most Handsome Lion In This Universe: “We are both from the same year, but he is always bullying me. Everyone, make sure you remember this, campus violence will not be tolerated!! [Lion’s bitter and resentful face]”

—17-Stay Away From the Slag Lion 【Admin】: “@Everyone, First-years, hurry up and report. Don’t be scared of senior brothers and sisters from other Houses and instantly ask them for directions. The sooner you get to your building, the better! If you meet a dangerous situation, don’t take your time! Immediately yell for help!!”

—17-Lang Chen: “I’m with Xiaohan, but where’s the other cat? Send your location, I’ll go find you @Ah Tan”

—17-Number One Most Handsome Lion In This Universe: “… Didn’t you need an ambulance?”

…

After seeing this last message from the group chat, the large tiger beside Qi Xiaohan stood up and shook his fur, adjusting to a more comfortable position.

Only then did Qi Xiaohan see that under the tiger’s fur, a smartphone screen showed messages flying by.

Little kitty: …

A few moments passed before the tiger stowed his phone away. Noticing the white kitty staring at him, he used his tail to pat the kitty’s head.

“Let’s go, or do you really want to wait for the ambulance to come pick us up?”

Lang Chen tidied himself again and took a step with his paw. For a moment, he was bathed in a silvery light. Instantly, the large, white tiger had taken the appearance of a human.

The white kitty strained to look up at him. The handsome human in front of her appeared to be aloof and his sharp eyes glared ferociously. His eyebrows were straight and bushy while his eyes were bright. The earring attached to his right ear had shrunk proportionally, making him seem pragmatic.

The dark grey school uniform fit perfectly, complementing his handsome aura.

Lang Chen lowered his head to straighten the cuff of his sleeve. He reached out his slender hand to the kitty and picked her up with ease, setting her on the luggage cart.

As he pushed the cart, he spoke: “I’ll send you to the place where you need to check in. Then, I’ll go find Ah Tan. When you get there, don’t wander around because I’ll be coming back.”

Walking for a short while, they quickly arrived at an elevator. Taking out a card from his pocket, Lang Chen hovered it near a sensor, and the elevator opened. He pushed the luggage cart with Qi Xiaohan on top.

Cats generally do not like to ascend into the air, so all the Cat Clan’s buildings were built on ground level. (T/N: instead of a floating tower)

The elevator steadily rose before stopping at the thirty-seventh floor. Qi Xiaohan gazed at her new surroundings and sprung off the luggage cart to walk on the floor.

The hallway was deathly silent as her paws softly padded along. As for the upright man clad in a uniform behind her, he quietly followed.

They arrived in front of room 3708. Lang Chen knocked before directly pushing the door open. He waited outside with the luggage while the kitty entered.

Inside, a sweet girl wearing a uniform smiled, exposing her canine teeth, when she noticed the small kitty heading towards her.

“Are you junior sister Xiaohan? This is the registration area, please come over here.”

“Hello, senior sister.”

Lang Chen glanced inside, and seeing Lu Sha, spoke: “I’ll head to the official building to remedy my wounds and find Ah Tan afterwards. Are you positive that you are in contact with all the other first-years?”

Lu Sha nodded: “Ah Tan was the only one who did not respond and still hasn’t sent her location. All the other first-years have reported their locations and their own senior brothers and sisters have gone to meet them.”

“Okay, got it.” Lang Chen closed the door.

Qi Xiaohan stood in her original position, her claws reaching inside a small bag with a duck print to retrieve her admissions letter and other certificates.

Lu Sha cheerfully watched as the adorable little kitty used her furry paw to struggle taking out her papers. Patiently, she walked over and offered to take Qi Xiaohan’s bag. At the same time, she conveniently hugged the kitty and petted her.

The little junior sister’s white and fluffy fur was extremely pleasant to the touch.

AHH when he used his tail to pat her head… so cute 😀

Chapter 6: Riding a Tiger

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

The moment the powerful tiger glanced over, a thick cultivator’s aura with a heavy murderous intent swept over them.

The black wolf retreated and lowered his head; the pressure had caused his blood to curdle.

He had not anticipated for this white tiger to be in this area today, he had been way too careless.

Taking note of the little white kitty dangling in the wolf’s mouth, the white tiger suppressed his aura. Decisively, he dealt the killing blow to the beast and stalked over to the black wolf, step by step.

On part of his white fur, there was a large bloodstain, causing him to appear like a majestic god that had just come out of battle. He opened his mouth and faced Qi Xiaohan, his deep and pleasant voice speaking:

“Spirit Control Class 2’s Qi Xiaohan?”

The small kitty was momentarily shocked and then eagerly nodded, “That’s me!”

At first sight, she obviously knew that this was her senior brother from the Cat Clan, but did not expect him to be this domineering.

His bold advancement resulted in the black wolf retreating yet another step, intimidated. Accidentally, he did not control his strength and bit down on the white kitty.

The kitty screeched, her pitch rising as she struggled to be released.

The white tiger’s pupils dilated as he heard her squeals and shot a cold glare at the black wolf.

“You’re still not putting the cat down?”

The white kitty was a small furry lump hanging from the black wolf’s mouth. As the tiger watched, he felt a sense of pity.

After all, this was the kitty’s first day at school, and she was already being bullied to the point where she was too afraid to resist. Only when she saw her senior brother from the same house did she dare voice her terror.

The black wolf paused and tentatively placed the white cat on the ground. He couldn’t help but nervously peer down at her neck.

The kitty staggered and shook her fur like a drill. Before she had time to collect her bearings, the large tiger reached out a furry paw and swept her behind him. With a gentle pat, he seemed to be comforting her.

“If I weren’t stationed here, would you have bitten the Cat House’s first-year and ran around the entire campus? Lei Yuan, is this something you should be doing?”

Facing the black wolf, the large tiger sharply questioned him.

The black wolf tensed up and was reluctant to answer, staying silent. The tension between the two was almost tangible.

Just when the white cat was about to speak up, several wolves behind the black wolf impatiently interrupted: “Senior brother, our Boss was originally on duty. It was this cat who burnt an evil mermaid spirit, and we were bringing her to document the events.”

“Is it dead?” Lang Chen deliberately peered behind the wolves, at the sack where the mermaid was contained.

Wolves: “Not yet…”

If the evil spirit had died, there was no need for the kitty to file the incident. It would have been fine if they only brought back the dead spirit to the Military Division, but their Boss suddenly demanded that the cat follow for some unknown reason. The wolves did not dispute his decision since the evil spirit really was beaten to an inch of their life by the cat. Bringing her along could be said to be complying with the rules.

The conflict between the Wolf Clan and the Cat Clan had been ongoing for a while already and first-years were frequently dragged into the mess. Who could have known that Lang Chen was coincidentally killing monsters in the Shadow Forest?

Lang Chen was a direct descendant of the mythical White Tiger. He was widely known and respected for his pure spiritual power and might. In his second-year, he entered Xunhai’s Military Division and steadily climbed up the ranks. Now, he was on the verge of becoming the President of the Student Council.

(T/N: ‘灵脉’ does not exactly translate to ‘spiritual power’ but it is along the lines. It is a term seen in cultivation novels and can mean a number of different things.)

Xunhai Union’s Student Council was a student-run organization that monitored the governing body and possessed immense authority. Within the school, they were in charge of student life and outside of the school, they defended the rights of their students.

The current president of the Student Council was a tortoise whose disposition was mellow and was easy to approach. Under his term, mistakes were common.

(T/N: The ‘赑屃’ = a divine beast whose appearance is similar to a tortoise, but is actually an ancient Chinese mythical beast.)

But ever since Lang Chen rose in position, Lei Li decisively improved many regulations of the student council all at once, receiving widespread approval. His previous nonchalant and lazy attitude had completely vanished, changing to one of a tyrant.

Upon being told that it had not burned to death yet, Lang Chen lifted his paw. With one smack, he sent the mermaid flying into several trees which subsequently broke. No doubt, the mermaid was thoroughly dead.

“Now it’s fine. Go report.” Lang Chen stoically commanded them.

The several wolves looked at each other in dismay,

Well, that was fine too.

Lang Chen had killed so many evil spirits and beasts anyways, so one more would not matter. The number of spirits documented would be correct either way.

Although the Wolf Clan contested the Cat Clan’s authority in the Student Council, the white tiger Lang Chen was more than enough to suppress them alone. There was no one on the level of Lang Chen in the Wolf Clan, so they had to yield to the Cat Clan every time.

The black wolf glared at the white tiger and left with his wolf pack.

…

Stepping out from behind the tiger after watching the wolves leave, Qi Xiaohan meowed. Suddenly, the white tiger lowered his head to examine her. Once he confirmed that she had not been injured, he spoke:

“If you ever encounter danger, immediately call your senior brothers and sisters. They will come to help you. You should never be taken away by being held in someone’s mouth again.”

He felt as though the kitty had been bullied after being forced to travel across an entire campus hanging from a wolf’s mouth; she was such a small kitty too.

She gazed up at him, the huge tiger looming in front of her. Uncertain, she asked, “Senior brother, have we met before?”

How was he able to recognize who she was?

Lang Chen: “I glanced over the first-year roster list. You were the only white cat.”

No wonder, her fur was quite a conspicuous color.

The kitty nodded her head.

Lang Chen stared at what appeared to be a pattern of flames on the kitty’s forehead and thought of something his friend had told him in a joking manner: in the past lives of kitties who had such a marking on their forehead, they probably had been small, white tigers.

Lang Chen’s eyes softened. Just as he moved, he felt a sharp pain slicing down his back.

His wound from before had not healed yet.

The white tiger grunted and inhaled deeply.

Blatantly gawking at his wound, the kitty stood motionless, her round eyes filled with hesitation.

His snow-white fur had been stained with dirt and blood, unlike the other clean and tidy students she had encountered. A cold glare was seen within his eyes, and the bloodstain on his cheek only made him seem like a fierce and exotic beauty.

Honestly, he was a very dashing tiger.

Students usually wore their school badge as a necklace, but senior brother Lang Chen fashioned his golden badge into an earring, wearing it on his right ear. This gave viewers an indescribable sort of strange feeling.

“Where is your luggage?”

Qi Xiaohan only now realized, the black wolf had left her luggage behind at the site of the fight.

The white tiger sized her up: “I’ll give you a ride. Coincidentally, I have some business at the office building nearby.”

Meowing her approval, Lang Chen bit down on the back of her neck and with a flick of his mouth, the small kitty landed on his wide back.

“Hang on tight,” the tiger growled. With a powerful leap, it seemed as though the space was moving around them.

Qi Xiaohan lied stiffly on his back, her four claws tightly grasping at her senior brother’s fur. When she finally adapted to the odd sensation, she gazed at the rapidly changing scenery around her with excitement.

She, a little kitty, has succeeded in life!

Today, she was even riding on a tiger!

Qi Xiaohan had only seen tigers from afar, either on the TV or when Ning Ning brought her to the zoo. This was her first time encountering a tiger close-up, and she even was riding on his back.

Once they arrived, she was going to blow up her family’s Wechat group chat with more than a hundred messages!

She was super, super, excited!

The little white kitty tightly closed her mouth, so her cheers of excitement would not leak out. Instead, she received a mouthful of wind.

School is starting soon for me, and I will be releasing one chapter per week for now. I want to use these few weeks to stockpile chapters for both my projects so I will have a consistent release schedule once I start getting busy again. Thanks for your understanding!

Cat in College C5

Chapter 5: Black Wolf

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

! There is a mildly gory/bloody description at the very end of this chapter.

They were close to the Wolf Clan territory. Like the Cat Clan, they lived in a certain area due to their common living habits, forming invisible boundaries. In Xunhai Union University, not all students were divided this way and for the most part, everyone lived in harmony. However, the Cat Clan and Wolf Clan were different; the two occasionally had conflicts. They had a long history of opposing each other, so the school decided to divide them, along with other clans. They were each given their respective living areas, similar to territories.

Several burly wolves quickly arrived at the scene. They had not even reached the front before they hastily tried to stop the freshmen.

A large black wolf advanced and lifted a paw to smack the mermaid a few times. Observing that it was almost dead, he turned towards his companions and signaled with his eyes. Immediately, their eyes filled with astonishment.

“Tie it up.”

The black wolf retreated a step and the other wolves behind him promptly began to bind the mermaid. They stuck a talisman on it and stuffed it inside a bag.

The white kitty wanted to protest but hesitated, looking up at the wolves: “Miaow…”

Coldly, the black wolf glanced to his side. When he saw the snow-white cat, he walked towards her.

“You want to eat the mermaid?”

Towering above her, the black wolf peered down at her, “You have a lot of nerve.”

In front of this wolf, Qi Xiaohan appeared to be especially small. The black wolf lifted his claw and pinned the small white kitty down, attentively inspecting her. After confirming that the first-year did not receive any injuries, he patted her head.

“Reckless.”

After a momentary silence, he sneered, “Worthy of the Cat Clan.”

Zhou Mingyu and Zheng Ze were also subject to an inspection. They did not really participate in the fight so they weren’t injured either, but they had spent quite a bit of spiritual energy.

When the other wolves heard the laughter of their leader, they glanced at the small white kitty, saying, “My eyes have been opened this year. A small cat almost killed an evil spirit with six hundred years worth of cultivation. The Cat Clan has gained a decent student.”

“Honestly speaking, I am beyond shocked. Are all the freshmen this year so fierce? They just arrived and already killed an evil spirit. If we were in the same position, would we be able to restrain the mermaid?”

“F*ck off, Boss only needs to use one claw to turn this mermaid into mud! If you can’t speak, then shut up.”

The black wolf stared at the white kitty. Seeing that she silently stared back at him with her fur standing straight up, hostile, he lowered his head and stooped to her level. With a nasty smile he said, “What, you don’t believe them? Do you want to see the mermaid turn into mud?”

The white kitty felt the black wolf’s breath lingering on her fur. The smell was like icy glaciers, and her fur bristled even more, and she began to snarl.

(T/N: Apparently glaciers are stinky?)

The cat pressed her paw against the wolf’s nose, not letting him come any closer.

Feeling the soft pads of the cat’s paws, the black wolf stopped before he went too far and opened his mouth to say something.

Right at this moment, a group of second-years hurried over after hearing the explosion. Their group consisted of witches and humans.

(T/N: I don’t know of a gender neutral term for witches/wizards but I am referencing both.)

The explosion in the Department of Dan had shocked the entire school, so when they heard an explosion, everyone was on edge and rushed to see the commotion.

The Witch Clan and the Human Clan were on good terms, and they lived in the same dormitory building.

Once the witches noticed that there was a huge wolf and a tiny kitty, and that the wolf was about to push the cat against a wall with the overbearing attitude of a bully, they hastily ran over.

“What are you doing!”

Watching the little first-year kitty helplessly using her paw to resist him, they concluded that the Wolf Clan was being extremely unreasonable, even bullying new students.

The humans hugged the kitty. Seeing her hostile attitude and bristled fur, they petted their little junior sister: “Don’t be scared, you’re safe now.”

Qi Xiaohan: ?

She wasn’t scared; she would have chomped down on him.

With the appearance of the humans, the wolves kicked at the mermaid: “These three freshmen fought with this evil spirit, and that cat from the Fire Spirit House created a fireball and fatally wounded the mermaid.”

When the second-year students heard his explanation, they faced Qi Xiaohan, shocked. Such a little kitty did that?

The kitty lifted her head up and meowed, gentle and soft.

One of the wolves had a sudden thought and choked back their laughter. “That first-year from the Cat Clan wanted her friends to freeze the fish tail and eat it at the next meal. When we arrived, the entire place smelled like roasted fish. I don’t know if this year’s first-years are all this brutal.”

The senior sister from the Witch Clan set the cat down and sized her up. She began to solemnly admonish her, “Junior sister, that really was dangerous. Didn’t your house’s senior brothers and sisters send you their contact information for emergencies? Why didn’t you call them to help you? What if that evil spirit’s cultivation was higher and you weren’t able to beat it?”

As she was being scolded, the kitty’s head and eyes drooped and her ears collapsed.

The wolves laughed: “Surely, those ordinary spirits won’t be able to beat her.”

Zhou Mingyu and Zheng Ze also lowered their heads. When the senior sister saw them, she wrinkled her brows. Since they were part of the Human Clan, she did not hold back as she reprimanded them, “And you guys, didn’t we send our contact info in the group chat? Hurry up and follow me back, this is outrageous.”

The two meekly followed behind the group of witches and humans. The Witch Clan and the Human Clan shared the same building so they would directly follow them there.

“Kitty junior sister, you should come with us. The Cat Clan’s building is close to ours.”

Thinking of something, a human sword cultivator turned his head around and asked the group of wolves, “Are you returning that mermaid back?”

The black wolf coldly grunted, “That cat has to stay for now. She burnt the evil spirit to death within school grounds, so she needs to follow us to officially record the incident.”

The white cat had been following behind the group of humans and witches. When she heard his words, she halted her steps and turned to look at the large wolf.

Honestly, she didn’t really want to go.

These wolves weren’t very friendly, especially the leader who had mocked the Cat Clan earlier.

The sword cultivator glanced at the kitty. Official records must be taken. After the collapse of the floating tower, countless evil spirits must have escaped. All the third and fourth-year students inside the school were trying their best to capture or kill them. No matter if the spirits were alive or dead, a clear record was required in order to determine whether evil spirits were still roaming around.

Well, this was his first time hearing of a first-year killing an evil spirit on her first day of school. It would probably give the officials a scare when she went to record the incident.

“Fine, you can bring that mermaid and junior sister to fill out the official records. Afterwards, make sure to bring her back. Third-year Lu Sha is on duty at the Cat Clan’s building.”

The sword cultivator rubbed the kitty’s head after speaking and led their own group back.

As for whether this little cat would be bullied? On her first day at school, she nearly killed a six hundred year old evil spirit. Clearly, that cat was fierce. Amongst the group of wolves, who could beat her other than the black wolf, Lei Yuan?

After the group of humans and witches left, Qi Xiaohan looked at the group of burly and vicious wolves. Padding along tentatively, she was on alert.

The wolves ignored the little white cat. Quickly, they cleaned up the surroundings and stuffed the rest of the mermaid into the bag. Four wolves each bit on a corner of the bag and they sprinted away.

The pack of wolves were speedy. With one blink, they had disappeared.

The white kitty stood there amazed. Above her, a gloomy voice spoke:

“Do you want me to carry you, or do you want to walk by yourself?”

Qi Xiaohan: “Of course I want to walk by myself.”

Lei Yuan snorted and coldly squinted. He lifted a claw and pressed down on Qi Xiaohan: “You? At your speed, when we arrive at the student council, it will already be time for dinner.”

Immediately, he lowered his head and bit down on the scruff of her neck and overtook the group of wolves that were carrying the mermaid.

Qi Xiaohan: …

This was fine too, wolves ran faster than her.

Qi Xiaohan automatically withdrew her four paws into her body, becoming a small cat lump. This was her body’s natural reaction. Sensing this, the black wolf laughed, his meaning unclear.

Truthfully, she thought that the black wolf’s constant somber expression was similar to that of a villain’s.

As she was being carried, Qi Xiaohan watched as the scenery flew by. Sighing, she envied the wolf’s rapid speed.

At that moment, Qi Xiaohan noticed a leather collar hanging around the wolf’s neck.

A golden school badge was inlaid in the collar. Within the black wolf’s long and shaggy fur, it was barely visible.

Golden school badge…

There were three ranks of school badges: golden, silver, and iron, the golden rank being the highest. The golden school badge was split into five stars again, five stars being the highest.

When military training ended, their initial school rank would be determined according to their ancestry and bloodline, as well as their exam grades.

Once they received their school badge, they would be considered an academic their entire life. Even if they quit school or were expelled, after they entered society and didn’t get into trouble, then they would still possess the identity and status of a respected student from Xunhai Union University.

It could be said that the school badge was the pride of every student from Xunhai Union University.

Along with the movements of the black wolf, the golden school badge disappeared and reappeared in his fur. Qi Xiaohan couldn’t help but reach up and touch it with her claw.

The black wolf grumbled, unfriendly saying, “What are you doing?”

Qi Xiaohan mumbled an apology and retracted her paw. Cats were attracted to moving objects, especially those that were shiny. They could never resist pawing at it so Qi Xiaohan really couldn’t help it.

With the little white cat in his mouth, the black wolf quickly ran across a forest. Gradually, he began to slow down. The wolves that were transporting the mermaid had already set the bag down and were crowded together, snarling and aggressively barking.

Exerting effort, Qi Xiaohan lifted her head up to glance up and saw a heap of bloody corpses.

The dead bodies of numerous beasts and demons were everywhere. Dark red blood drenched the land. A large silver-white tiger was standing in the midst with a murderous aura. Unwavering, his claw ripped open a four-headed beast, and he shot a glance over at them.

Hope you enjoyed! 🙂 Sorry I’m leaving it on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Cat in College C4

Chapter 4: Today, Kitty Has Fish

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

Zhou Mingyu’s friend, Zheng Ze, was of demon and dragon descent, and was a water-element sword cultivator. The two were from the same hometown. When they found out that they both were accepted to the same university, they decided to travel together.

(T/N: He’s not exactly dragon, but ‘jiaolong’, which is kind of like a water dragon.)

Qi Xiaohan controlled the cart, rolling on the road. She thought to herself that this school was indeed vast. Even if she followed the route sent in the group chat, it was complicated.

The two people accompanying the cat gradually became confused as well.

After all, on the floating islands above, school buildings could be seen, meaning that the map was three-dimensional. The somewhat directionally challenged kitty walked for a short stretch before cursing that this was a hellish-level challenge.

Qi Xiaohan collapsed her ears, her paws kneading the suitcase below her. Suddenly, the kitty sensed a shift in atmospheric pressure.

Zheng Ze was still concentrating on differentiating between the school buildings while Zhou Mingyu had long collapsed on the kitty’s luggage cart, tired. The white kitty meowed, whining, and also laid down on her suitcase. She rolled over to expose her snow-white, furry underbelly and was motionless.

Feeling that something was off, Zheng Ze furrowed his brows.

He received another notice from the school. There were supposed to be second-year students patrolling the path to ensure the safety of the newcomers, but throughout their entire journey, they had not encountered anyone.

Besides, he felt that the surroundings were strange, but he couldn’t quite identify why it felt so.

All of a sudden, the cat who had been lazily lying on the suitcase stood up, gazing around, on alert. She arched her back, her fur bristling, and threateningly hissed.

Flames appeared in the air, revolving around the white cat, rising and falling.

Zheng Ze’s intuition was correct. He flipped his palm over, and the handle of an ice sword appeared. With vigilance, he stared around them, not discovering anything out of the ordinary.

At this moment, the kitty shrilly screeched and jumped, pushing off of the suitcase. The cat’s claw striked at an empty space, her paw swathed in flickering red flames.

It was unknown what she hit. The space emitted sizzling sounds, and immediately, a sharp aroma spread.

The white kitty’s nose moved, sniffing, and her green eyes shined.

The smell of cooked fish!

Such a familiar and mouthwatering smell!

Again, the cat struck with her paw. She opened her mouth to reveal her teeth and bit down on the thing in the air.

It emitted a distressed scream. The flames must have burnt it badly, and it was angered even more.

The only apparent effect was the distortion of the air, as if their normal dimension was warping with another dimension, and the sight was exceptionally abnormal. A rippling mass violently dashed towards Qi Xiaohan, attacking her, posing a serious danger.

In Zhou Mingyu’s palm, a small doll-like object appeared. Manipulating it with a grim expression, the attacking mass came to a halt, stabilizing for a moment. But almost immediately after, the fluctuations increased.

During that moment, the cat had already used her hind leg to push off and in a flash, attacked again. She threw herself at the mass and attached onto it, hitting the mass with a flurry of rapid attacks using her claws, biting it in-between. The fighting was very vicious, with the fierce clawing and biting.

In pain, the mass shook from side to side and emitted resentful screams, trying to throw the cat off.

However, the cat would not release its bite and thoroughly latched onto the mass, releasing flames every once in a while.

What the fire was exactly, was unknown. The temperature was extremely high, and no matter how high the creature’s cultivation was, the fire was inextinguishable.

Qi Xiaohan hung on the creature’s body, a small fireball forming around her paw. Forcefully, she pressed it into its head.

The fire of the fireball was similar to viscous liquid, thickly flowing. The purple flames surrounding the fireball were continuously flickering.

The white kitty firmly pressed down on the creature’s head. With this, a loud ‘bang’ was heard, and the fireball exploded. The leftover flames warped the air, so hot and drying that human skin could crack and split open.

Zheng Ze could be considered a half-aquatic being, so this was an extremely painful ordeal for him. He had executed several sword techniques, but it had no effect on the creature, other than making it more aggravated. Only the cat’s fireball was able to truly damage the creature. In the end, Zheng Ze and Zhou Mingyu could only support Qi Xiaohan off to the side.

With the explosion of the fireball, the creature was unable to maintain its invisibility and was forced to show its true appearance.

Qi Xiaohan’s claws gripped its head and stood there in an imposing manner, aggressively meowing. Her tail was raised straight up.

After she saw the creature’s true form, the kitty paused, amazed at the transformation. She had been given a pleasant surprise.

It was a fish, a huge fish!

The creature was around three meters tall, and its tail was thick and firm. With one glance, she could tell that the flesh would be savory and delicious.

The downside was that the top half of the creature was human. It was such a pity that it wasn’t suitable for eating.

Qi Xiaohan made a prompt decision; she formed another large fireball and threateningly pressed it to the fish’s head, not allowing it to randomly move around. Noticing that the fish was nearing death because of the previous fireball, she happily yelled at Zheng Ze:

“Zheng Ze, hurry up! Help me temporarily freeze the fish’s tail! I’ll store it in our dormitory’s freezer! !”

Zheng Ze: …

Zheng Ze held his sword and glanced at the kitty that was standing on the mermaid. He opened his mouth and had no choice but to close it again. Silently, he lifted his hand and started to freeze the fish tail.

He had reached an understanding. Previously, he was unaware that the kitty would be able to fight like this. No wonder she didn’t need to take the exam.

This cat was a rightful exception to the admission rules! !

Zhou Mingyu was not upset to have been beaten by this cat.

In its final moments, the mermaid heard that it would be frozen and became so angered that it did not even have the strength to tremble, especially because this cat looked down on its human half. Immediately, its pair of blue-colored eyes, as vivid as the sea, became moist. Extremely humiliated, it closed its eyes and appeared as a dead fish, not bothering to care anymore.

Qi Xiaohan rubbed the blood stains on her paws. She had received an abundant harvest and was just about to drag the fish tail onto her luggage cart,

When second-year students who sensed the explosion of the fireball arrived, in time to hear Qi Xiaohan’s last few words.

“Wait, stop right there!”

Whew, my first time translating a “fight” scene… Sorry if it was a bit underwhelming.

Cat in College C2

Chapter 2: Male Idol?

Translated by Lime

< TOC >

Qi Xiaohan boarded the plane. Many classmates were already present, and everyone was greeting each other and sharing which department they were attending or what they would specialize in. The atmosphere was noisy and harmonious.

In the seat next to Qi Xiaohan was a Siamese cat. When she walked over and was about to introduce herself, the Siamese cat quickly turned away and closed its eyes.

The white kitty’s ear moved slightly and she didn’t care much, sitting back in her seat.

Behind her, several canines from the Wolf Clan were misbehaving, their howls and barks were distracting. The white kitty collapsed her ears in order to block out the sound. She was about to lay down and nap when someone poked her head.

“Miaow!”

Quickly, the kitty lifted her head and her wide eyes stared at the human with a fierce look, as if to say she wasn’t easy to bully. Then, she noticed that the person who poked her was a handsome human boy.

Qi Xiaohan’s taste in humans was the same as her owner, Ning Ning. Recently, Ning Ning liked tough-looking guys, and occasionally, she would roast her favorite idol, a pretty, blonde man, in front of her cat. This influenced Qi Xiaohan to prefer a strong and healthy-looking young human male. He must be elegant and refined, fresh and cool, and slightly tan.

However, this young man in front of her—the kitty squinted her eyes, he looked soft and had tender skin. Clearly, he did not meet her expectations.

She might be mistaken, but he seemed vaguely familiar.

The white kitty lifted a paw and unhappily pushed at her head. When the human rubbed her head, her fur had become ruffled and messy. The sensation was uncomfortable.

The boy noticed that the kitty awoke and smiled, showing his canine teeth. He greeted the white cat:

“Hi, my name is Zhou Mingyu. I’m from the Golden Spirit House, and I will be studying in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. I am specializing in Puppet Automation.”

Zhou Mingyu smiled so widely that no one could miss his smile. When people saw him smiling, it usually triggered a positive reaction. He was about to pet the kitty’s head again, when the pretty, snow-white cat glanced at him, slanting her eyes. She gave him a look, one that was vaguely trying to conceal her disdain.

Disdain?

Since Zhou Mingyu was a child, he had never been looked at in this manner by someone. Unexpectedly, a small kitty was now gazing at him with disdain.

The white kitty raised her small face and politely meowed:

“My name is Qi Xiaohan. I’m from the Fire Spirit House and studying in the Department of Control. I am specializing in Spirit Control. Do you need anything?”

As the kitty spoke, she had a slight kitty accent, as if she didn’t speak on a regular basis. She seemed to have a nasal voice of a kitten, soft and squeamish.

“Uh…we are all classmates, I just wanted to come over and introduce myself. Sorry for interrupting your nap.” The boy awkwardly rubbed his nose.

However, the small cat did not go back to sleep and stood up instead, staring at him. She was almost leaning on his face.

“Miaow?”

Qi Xiaohan felt like she was not mistaken earlier, this face was indeed—familiar!

Zhou Mingyu stared into the kitty’s pair of clear, green eyes that had a bit of doubt. They were a pair of beautiful eyes, and Zhou Mingyu was rendered speechless for a moment, not knowing what to say.

Next to them, Zhou Mingyu’s friend laughed and patted his shoulder: “Classmate Qi, have you recognized him yet? Seems like you are a kitty who browses the Internet often.”

Qi Xiaohan studied his face keenly. She heard what his friend said and pawed at her chair. Finally, she had recognized him; this human was a trainee of a certain entertainment agency and debuted in a boy band. Later, there weren’t any more updates.

Turns out he was attending university.

It made sense, this boy appeared to be seventeen or eighteen years old. Humans around this age were supposed to go to school.

Qi Xiaohan previously saw him on the trending searches. At that time, Zhou Mingyu was an idol who sang and danced. In the articles that had close-up shots of him, his hair had been dyed and he wore eyeliner. Naturally, Qi Xiaohan was unable to recognize him with his current appearance.

The kitty looked at him strangely: “Isn’t your name Zhou Xingchen?”

Zhou Mingyu laughed heartily: “…stage name, it was a stage name. My agency assigned it to me.”

The kitty nodded and glanced at him, realizing that the plane had not taken off yet. She retrieved a phone from inside her bag and nimbly used her paw to inform Ning Ning.

Zhou Mingyu’s seat was right next to Qi Xiaohan. When he saw that she was unresponsive, he glanced over in curiosity and saw the kitty taking out the latest model of smartphone and using her paws to rapidly text.

-Cat That Loves Spicy Hot Pot: “Ning Ning, I have boarded the plane. I think I forgot to bring my scratching post.”

-Not Changing My Name Until Another Branch Opens: “That’s not important, just buy another one. Are there many classmates around you? Are they friendly?”

-Cat That Loves Spicy Hot Pot: “The cat next to me is okay, very quiet. On my other side is a human who is a little noisy. Apparently he was an idol before this.”

-Not Changing My Name Until Another Branch Opens: “Who? You are so lucky! Let me see!!! rubbinghands.jpg”

-Cat That Loves Spicy Hot Pot: “His stage name is Zhou Xingchen and he has a good temper. He looks like he would be easily bullied.”

Zhou Mingyu: …

The kitty’s phone display screen was quite big, and Zhou Mingyu saw the entire conversation by accident. This cat was so straight-forward and blunt.

He was around 1.8 meters tall, why did she assume he had a good temper? And he was easy to bully? He could handle ten cats of her size! This damn cat!

Zhou Mingyu had no intention of continuing to watch the cat gossip and gazed out the window. Honestly, it was his first time he attending school here, so he was extremely nervous. For two years, he had spent all day and night studying in order to be accepted to Xunhai Union University. Now that he saw small demons, he became somewhat excited.

Zhou Mingyu turned to ask the kitty:

“Qi Xiaohan, what was the topic for your entrance examination? Did we get the same one? I think that the mathematics portion was difficult this year, I barely made it in—” Zhou Mingyu glanced over and coincidentally saw the kitty opening the camera app.

The white kitty replied, “Can we take a picture? My family wants to see you.”

The kitty was cutely looking up at him, who wouldn’t agree to her simple request?

Zhou Mingyu: “Of course.”

The boy leaned down next to the cat and saw her struggling to prop the phone up with her paws. He reached out to help her and took a selfie. His movements were skilled, even helping the cat appear more beautiful by angling the phone.

After taking the picture, he helped her send the photo to the kitty’s family.

Not Changing My Name Until Another Branch Opens: ! ! !

The phone started to vibrate and countless messages were sent, one by one. It was obvious how the girl on the other side felt.

Zhou Mingyu returned the phone to Qi Xiaohan. Thinking of the constant WeChat messages and the human girl’s excited reaction, the injury that Zhou Mingyu sustained from the unexpected reaction earlier lessened a bit. He wasn’t liked by the cat, but his fans had not abandoned him.

At the very least, the cat’s family were definitely his fans!

The former idol was content.

Qi Xiaohan still wanted to chat with Ning Ning, but saw the flight attendant approaching them. She powered off her phone and stowed it away and was prepared to lay down and nap.

A few moments later, the kitty’s ears perked up. She had remembered something and suddenly glanced at the boy who was now wearing a sleeping mask.

“Wait, you said that you needed to pass an exam to be accepted?”

“Yeah, how else?”

The kitty fell silent and stared at him: “Uh…”

She didn’t know whether or not to say anything.

Zhou Mingyu noticed her unsure tone and removed his eye mask. He thought about her reaction and his eyes widened in disbelief: “Don’t tell me that you didn’t pass the exam!”

“Miaow…” Hearing his accusatory words, the kitty timidly retracted her claws.

“The admissions officer directly notified me to attend this school and gave me the admissions notice. He even told me that I received a scholarship. I came to help earn money for my family.” The kitty shifted its weight from side to side with her head lowered, not wanting to appear haughty.

The lion admissions officer was nice. Before he left, he shifted back into his original appearance, a fierce and powerful lion. He carried her in his mouth and walked around the living room, even letting her sit on his back.

(T/N: So the admissions officer from last chapter, the lion, had a somewhat human appearance I’m assuming. The author described him as a lion, but didn’t specify the exact appearance. Animals can shapeshift into a human-like appearance in this world/novel.)

The only time she had seen lions was at the zoo!

Therefore, Qi Xiaohan had a positive impression of all the teachers at this school.

Xunhai Union University was funded by five large powers, but it was not run by any of the five and operated independently. Every year, the scholarship money that was allotted to students was generous. Qi Xiaohan’s family’s hot pot restaurant was short of a tiny amount of money before they could open another branch. When the kitty heard that she could attend school, she immediately packed her luggage.

(T/N: This explains Qi Ning’s Username from earlier, ‘Not Changing My Name Until Another Branch Opens’ in case you were wondering about it.)

Zhou Mingyu leaned against his chair, in shock. With great effort, he tried to suppress his shock. In the end, he was unable to: “Ehh—”

Accidentally, he sighed out loud.

He had been dealt a huge blow.

Zhou Mingyu’s friend also looked at the white kitty in surprise and patted his shoulder to comfort him: “Whatever, no matter how things happened, the results are the same: we’re going to school.”

Zhou Mingyu covered his face and struggled to breathe: “I did over a thousand sets of exam questions—”

Friend: “Sigh.”

Btw, Zhou Mingyu is not the male lead, it will be obvious when ML appears.

Here is a detailed explanation of how the university is split up from chapter 14:

There are clans, such as the ‘Wolf Clan’ and the ‘Cat Clan’. They are groups of students living in certain areas and are not related to houses/departments.

“The school is divided into five Houses, Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. Each House is further divided into many departments, such as the Department of Medicine, the Department of Spells, the Sword Sect, the Department of Control, the Department of Offense, and so on.”

Just know that houses > departments > specialties, Clans are separate. The confusing part is that the character for ‘clan’ and ‘house’ are the same, but the actual use is different.

Hope this helps! If you have any further questions, leave a comment, and I will try to explain as best I can. Later on, if the story gets confusing, I might make a character list and post more explanations to clear things up.
